Nationality: France

Education:

2005-today PhD in biochemistry under Marie Curie Research Training Network, Technical University of Tallinn, Estonia
2003 - 2004 “Maîtrise” in Biochemistry, Montpellier II University, France
2002 - 2003 “Licence” (Bachelor degree) in Biochemistry, Montpellier II University, France
2000 - 2002 “DEUG” in science, Montpellier II University, France
2000 Baccalaureate in science, Biology speciality, Lycée Jean-Monnet, Montpellier France

Grants and recompenses:

1999, we won the first price for teamwork at “concours des sciences de Carcasonne”. The presentation was about foetus and embryos.

Projects:

Training during “maîtrise” degree (February to june 2004): I have worked five months at Just Justesen’s laboratory at the Department of Molecular Biology, Aarhus University. With the help of my supervisor, Dr. Rune Hartmann, I have purified the recombinant 2’-5’ oligoadenylate synthetase (also called OAS) from the sponges, Geodia cydonium and Suberites domuncula. We have also done preliminary experiments of the crystallization of OAS recombinant of S. domuncula.

One year Master project (2005): During the second year of the Master, I have done a full-time training with Dr. Just Justesen as supervisor at the Department of Molecular Biology, Aarhus University. I have worked on the purification and the characterization of 2’-5’ oligoadenylate synthetase from the sponge G. cydonium.

PhD project, November 2005 to today: I am doing the first part of my PhD project in Merike Kelve’s laboratory, Technical University of Tallinn. The aim of my project is the purification and the characterization of protein(s) involved in 2’-5’ oligoadenylate synthetase (OAS) activity in the marine sponge Geodia cydonium and Chondrosia reniformis. Different chromatography, electrophoresis and HPLC techniques are used in order to increase the specific activity of this enzyme, OAS. The next steps will be the characterization of this protein(s) and its cloning.

Techniques:

• SDS, Native-P.A.G.E, 2D-Electrophoresis, Preparative electrophoresis
• HPLC (Reverse phase, ion-exchange, affinity chromatography, Size exclusion chromatography)
• Thin layer chromatography, OAS activity assays
• Bacterial culture, expression of recombinant proteins and their purification
• Bases on crystallization

Other interests:

I have been practicing tap dance for 15 years and I particularly like to listen to jazz music. I like to play classical music on piano as a beginner.
